Starchup vs ProTakip: Why Small Rug and Dry Cleaners Choose ProTakip

Starchup vs ProTakip for small rug, upholstery and dry cleaners: what Starchup really costs per year, what its driver-app reviews say, and why teams switch to ProTakip. Checked September 2026. ProTakip: $20 a month, unlimited users, first three months free.

Starchup vs ProTakip is a question we hear from rug cleaners and small dry cleaners who pick up from homes. ProTakip is carpet cleaning software and cleaning business software: order, customer and payment tracking for carpet, rug and upholstery cleaning businesses, also used by dry cleaners and home and office cleaning teams.

ProTakip's team has built software for carpet-cleaning businesses for 22 years. Before smartphones existed, we put our software on bank POS terminals so crews could take an order and print a receipt for the customer at the door. Today's app is the third generation of that work: one full app on Android, iPhone and the web, used by carpet, rug and upholstery cleaners in Türkiye and internationally, and by dry cleaners and home and office cleaning companies too.

Starchup is a US dry-cleaning and laundry platform built around a store point of sale, route-based delivery and a branded customer app, sold in three tiers from $299 to $499 a month, with a 12-month commitment on its top mobile package.

The decisive difference is simple: on Starchup, pickup and delivery start on the $399-a-month Delivery tier and the price climbs with each feature tier; ProTakip is one flat subscription of $20 a month with every feature included, unlimited users, no annual contract and the first three months free.

What Starchup offers

Starchup (starchup.com) is a platform for the dry-cleaning counter: according to its website (September 2026), every tier includes a POS with customer records, production tracking, inventory management and heat-seal and day tags. The top tier adds branded iOS and Android customer apps, web ordering, contactless pickup, locker functionality and conveyor integration. Starchup has joined forces with Cents (the Google Play listing for the driver app now names Cents Technologies as developer) — see our Cents vs ProTakip comparison.

What Starchup really costs in 2026

Starchup publishes three tiers on its website (September 2026). Here is what each one takes out of your bank account in a year:

Starchup does not charge per user; the cost comes from the tiers. Pickup and delivery means at least $4,188 a year. Extras the site lists: SEO websites ($1,500 simple or $3,000 custom), AdWords setup ($300), email marketing ($70–$250 per month, which is $840–$3,000 a year), conveyor setup ($500) and hardware (price varies). Locker and conveyor integration are custom-priced. The top mobile package carries a 12-month commitment, and cancelling after the commitment needs 30 days' notice. Lower tiers have no commitment. There is no free plan; Starchup offers a demo.

A worked example. An owner with four field staff who picks up rugs and garments from homes needs the Delivery tier: $4,788 a year billed monthly, or $4,188 paid before the first order. Add a simple SEO website ($1,500) and the first year reaches $5,688–$6,288 before any hardware. Move up to Growth for a branded app and the software alone is $5,268–$5,988 a year, locked in for 12 months.

On ProTakip, the same five-person team pays one flat fee of $20 a month ($240 a year) with every feature included — route optimisation, SMS and WhatsApp notifications, Caller ID on Android, QR labels and reports — with unlimited users, no contract and nothing to pay for the first three months. For current pricing, see our dry cleaning software page or download the app.

What Starchup reviews say about the driver app

The public store footprint for Starchup is small. The Starchup Driver app on Google Play has 500+ installs and a 2.4 average from 11 reviews, and it was last updated on 1 October 2024. On the App Store, the driver app has a 5.0 average from only 4 ratings and was last updated on 18 May 2022. These are the driver app's ratings; Starchup's customer apps are published under each business's own name, so there is no public customer rating to check.

In our sample of 10 written Android reviews, four were 1-star and two were 5-star. The recurring theme was reliability: reviewers report that the app would not load or kept crashing.

"works intermittently, currently not working, keeps crashing. please fix and update!" — Google Play review
"I reinstalled again after 24 hours still not working" — Google Play review

One driver described a workflow problem and asked for Waze as a default map:

"It also kicks me back to the first screen when toggling between the map app and the driver app. Literally adds minutes to every stop." — Google Play review

None of the sampled reviews had a developer reply (0%), and neither driver app has had a store update since 2024.

Why carpet cleaners choose ProTakip

22 years, carpet cleaning only. ProTakip is not a general job tool with a carpet-cleaning landing page. Our team has written software for carpet-cleaning businesses for 22 years, from bank POS terminals that printed receipts at the door to today's phone app. The workflow follows your crew's day: received → in wash → ready → out for delivery → delivered, then payment, with pricing per square metre or per item, quotes and recurring jobs.

The same full app on Android, iPhone and web. There is no "lite" mobile version. The owner, the counter and the driver see the same screens, and every platform gets the same release on the same day.

At the customer's door. Photos at pickup record each item's condition and end "that stain was not there before" disputes. Then print a QR label for every piece with its position in the order (for example "3 / 7") and a receipt on a Bluetooth thermal printer, straight from the phone.

Know who is calling on Android before you answer. On Android phones, a card appears before the phone rings with the customer's name, address, notes, balance and open orders by stage. It works with the app closed and with no signal, because the customer list is stored on the phone. On the office computer, Caller ID comes through a USB caller-ID device or a cloud switchboard pop-up. New orders can also be created without signal and are synced when the connection returns. More in our Caller ID guide.

Customers stop phoning to ask "is it ready?" Automatic SMS and WhatsApp messages go out at every stage, including to international customers, with a tracking link so customers can check their order themselves. A WhatsApp Business inbox and bulk SMS are built in. See how WhatsApp order notifications work.

Shorter delivery days. Routes are optimised automatically, with a map view, navigation and vehicle GPS tracking. Our guide to delivery scheduling and route planning shows how it works day to day.

Head-to-head: the five differences that decide it

ProTakip comes out ahead on each of the five points below for a small carpet-cleaning business; each one ends with what it means for your crew.

Pricing model: tiered plans versus one flat subscription

Neither product charges per user. The difference is structure: Starchup splits features into three tiers, so pickup and delivery start at $399 a month and branded customer apps only arrive at $499 a month with a 12-month commitment. ProTakip has one subscription that includes everything, with no annual contract: no tier upgrade to unlock route planning or notifications.

Mobile experience: driver app versus the full business on the phone

Starchup's phone app is a driver tool; the POS lives in the store. Its driver app listings have not been updated since 2024 (Android) and 2022 (iOS). ProTakip puts the whole business in one app and ships the same version to both stores on the same day, so an owner who is also the driver runs everything from one phone.

Customer ordering: branded consumer app versus notifications and tracking

Starchup's Growth tier lets customers order pickups from an app with your brand and use lockers, for $499 a month on a 12-month commitment. ProTakip does not offer a branded consumer ordering app or a self-booking website. Orders come in by phone or WhatsApp, and customers are kept informed by automatic SMS, WhatsApp and a tracking link — which, for a business serving regulars, cuts the "where is my rug?" calls without a $499-a-month tier.

Labels, photos and item handling

Starchup includes heat-seal and day tags, production tracking and conveyor integration for garment volume. ProTakip prints QR labels on a Bluetooth thermal printer from the phone, with each item's position in the order, and attaches photos to document condition at pickup. For rugs and sofa covers, where one damage dispute can cost more than a month of software, that is the protection that matters.

Industry fit: dry-cleaning plant versus carpet and upholstery workflow

Starchup is built for dry cleaners and laundries. ProTakip is a carpet & upholstery cleaning program that dry cleaners also use, with per-square-metre pricing, pickup and delivery lists, and Caller ID on Android that shows open orders before you answer. If you wash rugs as well as garments, ProTakip follows your day more closely. Our carpet cleaning software page covers the rug side in more detail.

Why ProTakip is the best Starchup alternative for a small carpet-cleaning business

ProTakip is carpet cleaning software and cleaning business software for one-to-fifteen-person teams; this is why it is the best Starchup alternative for that business.

ProTakip is the better choice for small carpet & rug cleaners, upholstery cleaners and dry cleaners that run the business from their phones: owner-operators, teams of two to fifteen, and anyone who picks up from homes. We built it for exactly that day. At the door you take photos and print QR labels and a receipt. When the phone rings, Caller ID on Android shows who it is, what they owe and which orders are open, even with no signal. While the rugs wash, customers get automatic SMS and WhatsApp updates, and the delivery route is optimised for you.

You pay one flat monthly fee for all of it, with unlimited users: add a seasonal helper or a second driver and the bill does not move. No annual contract, no setup fee, no tier to upgrade, and your first three months cost nothing. We move your data for you, and a real person answers in the in-app chat.

If you are comparing several tools, our dry cleaning management software guide, CleanCloud vs ProTakip, Turns vs ProTakip and Geelus vs ProTakip may help, or see all comparisons.

A note from the founder. We built ProTakip for carpet-cleaning owners tired of paying for every new hire and fighting menus made for other trades. No sales pitch: use it free for three months with your whole team, no card needed. If it works for you, it is $20 a month. If it doesn't, you leave, and your data is yours.

Start free for three months, no card required: download ProTakip and run your next week of orders on it — the same full app on Android, iPhone and web, unlimited users, no contract.

Switching from Starchup to ProTakip

Starchup's website states that you own your data, which makes leaving straightforward. Export your customer list and open orders and send them to us; the ProTakip team imports them free of charge, so your crew starts with every customer and open job in place. Run both systems side by side for two weeks during your free months, then cancel Starchup with its 30-day notice once your team is comfortable. Our switching and data migration guide walks through the steps.

Is Starchup or ProTakip better for carpet and rug cleaning?

Does ProTakip have a branded customer app like Starchup?

Instead, customers get automatic SMS and WhatsApp messages at every order stage and a tracking link that shows their order status, so they rarely need to call you to ask where their rug is. If your business needs it, tell us in the in-app chat: ProTakip is built around what its customers ask for, and the first three months are free while you find out.

What do Starchup reviews on the app stores say?

The Starchup Driver app has a 2.4 average from 11 reviews on Google Play and 5.0 from 4 ratings on the App Store as of September 2026. Android reviewers mainly report crashes and loading problems, and one asked for Waze support. No developer replies appeared in the sample. ProTakip holds 5.0 on Google Play and 4.98 on the App Store, and the developer replies to about 96% of Play reviews.

Can I move my data from Starchup to ProTakip?

Yes. Starchup states on its website that customers own their data. Export your customer list and orders and the ProTakip team will migrate them for you free of charge. With three free months you can run both systems side by side, then cancel Starchup with its listed 30-day notice once your team is comfortable.

Starchup is a trademark of its respective owner. ProTakip is not affiliated with or endorsed by Starchup. Competitor pricing and ratings are as published on the vendor's website or app stores on 27 September 2026 and may change.
